The #1 Netflix Movie Is A Sci-Fi Epic: “The best movie to finish 2023”
It seems everyone wanted off of this planet for the holidays. According to the Netflix charts, people could not get enough of this new sci-fi movie they dropped last week. It might also be because of the wildly talented cast, but I believe it is because many of us have figured out that Earth is not what it used to be. Whatever the reasons, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire is the #1 movie on the streamer. Let us put this ship on cruise control and see what we can learn about this galaxy far, far away.
Per the Netflix synopsis:
“After crash landing on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe, Kora, a stranger with a mysterious past, begins a new life among a peaceful settlement of farmers. But she soon becomes their only hope for survival when the tyrannical Regent Balisarius and his cruel emissary, Admiral Noble, discover the farmers have unwittingly sold their crops to the Bloodaxes—leaders of a fierce group of insurgents hunted by the Motherworld.
Tasked with finding fighters who would risk their lives to defend the people of Veldt, Kora, and Gunnar, a tenderhearted farmer naive in the realities of war, journey to different worlds in search of the Bloodaxes, and assemble a small band of warriors who share a common need for redemption along the way: Kai, a pilot and gun for hire; General Titus, a legendary commander; Nemesis, a master swordswoman; Tarak, a captive with a regal past; and Milius, a resistance fighter. Back on Veldt, Jimmy, an ancient mechanized protector hiding in the wings, awakens with a new purpose. But the newly formed revolutionaries must learn to trust each other and fight as one before the armies of the Motherworld come to destroy them all.”
Rebel Moon was directed by Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen). The screenplay was penned by Zack Snyder, Kurt Johnstad (300, Atomic Blonde), and Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead, John Wick: Chapter 4).
The movie stars Sofia Boutella (Climax), Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), Djimon Hounsou (Constantine) Bae Doona (Sense8), Ray Fisher (True Detective), Cleopatra Coleman (Cobweb), Michiel Huisman (The Invitation), Jena Malone (Swallowed), and Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambsr).
Many people on Twitter cannot get over how gorgeous the movie is. Others are making their families watch the PG-13 affair while wishing the wait for part 2 wasn’t so long. Plus, the Zack Snyder stans are excited to see another sci-fi epic from the director.

Rebel Moon landed in theaters on December 15. It then took a brief star trek to end up on Netflix on December 21. The second part, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, is expected to finish the star war on April 19, 2024.
