The #1 Movie on Netflix is a Denzel Washington Thriller Fans Are Calling “Dead brilliant”

Netflix knew the only way to celebrate a new year was with the latest Denzel Washington thriller. This is why the streamer waited for the ball to drop before notifying subscribers that The Equalizer 3 had landed on the app. That gave us enough time to cancel our plans and cozy up to this third installment of this action-packed franchise.

We’re now happy to say it’s the #1 movie on the charts already. If you are unfamiliar with the title, read the synopsis and catch the trailer below.

In the film,

“Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.”

The Equalizer 3 was directed by Antoine Fuqua and was written by Richard Wenk. The script is based on a 1980s TV series, The Equalizer, created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. This final installment of the modernized trilogy stars Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, David Denman, and Gaia Scodellaro.

While Twitter is always ready to see Denzel Washington give an acting masterclass while killing some bad guys, this title, specifically, had Washington fans excited. It saw him and Dakota Fanning reunite on screen after breaking our hearts in the 2004 action-thriller Man on Fire.

If you are like me and most other Netflix subscribers, you watched The Equalizer 3 the second it hit the streamer. If you are also like me and the rest of the world, you probably want more time with Denzel Washington. You can rewatch the whole trilogy this month because The Equalizer is on Peacock, and The Equalizer 2 is on Hulu.

If you prefer to get your heartbroken by watching Man on Fire again, it is on Max (formerly HBO Max). Let me know however you choose to celebrate another year of Denzel at @misssharai.
