We all assumed that after breaking box office records, Five Nights At Freddy’s would be moving up all plans for sequels posthase. And you know fans have been waiting for updates on the next installment of this surprisingly popular new horror film franchise.

So, when Variety sat down with the star, Josh Hutcherson, to talk about his new movie, they had to address the animatronic bear in the room. Luckily, Hutcherson was happy to share what he knew about the next film.

“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible. Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal.

He continued with, “We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.” –  Variety

This is a huge win for fans who worried the impending Five Nights At Freddy’s sequel might be put onto the backburner this year. Many people want to see where a second movie will go and how it will further expand on the lore inherited from the video games.

While talking about past projects, Josh Hutcherson also fed the fans of The Hunger Games. His involvement with the franchise ended almost a decade ago, but that does not mean he is not still trading text messages with his co-stars. Specifically Jennifer Lawrence, also known as Jenny from the District.

Lawrence’s comedy No Hard Feelings hit Netflix the same weekend Five Nights At Freddy’s premiered in theaters. So, of course, J. Law made time to reach out to her former co-star to celebrate the success of their movies.

“Jen texted me when Freddy’s’ came out,” Hutcherson said. “She was like, ‘My movie’s #1 on Netflix, and yours is #1 at the box office! Let’s go!’ I was like, ‘I love you!’” – Variety

We love that Josh Hutcherson is still happy to answer questions about his first franchise as he begins his journey with a new series. Is it too soon to wonder if a franchise king is being born? If you need another dose of Josh Hutcherson, he is in a new film, The Beekeeper, that hits theaters this Friday. The revenge thriller also stars Minnie Driver, Jeremy Irons, and Jason Statham.

If you still need to watch Five Nights At Freddy’s it is currently streaming on Peacock.
