The Ruins Director Returns With Jamie Marks Is DeadPersonally, I was a big fan of 2008’s The Ruins, a flick that I never felt got the kinda love it rightfully deserved. While not a perfect film by any means, it delivered pretty much everything I look for from a horror film and got me excited about the future of its director, Carter Smith.

But a follow-up film from the director never came.

Turns out, Smith has been hard at work directing a new movie called Jamie Marks Is Dead, an adaptation of Christopher Barzak’s novel One for Sorrow, which is currently in post-production. Who knew?!

Jamie Marks Is Dead stars Liv Tyler (pictured), Judy Greer and Noah Silver, and you can read the synopsis of the 2007 novel it’s based on below.

Synopsis
Adam McCormick had just turned fifteen when the body was found in the woods. It is the beginning of an autumn that will change his life forever. Jamie Marks was a boy a lot like Adam, a boy no one paid much attention to—a boy almost no one would truly miss. And for the first time, Adam feels he has a purpose. Now, more than ever, Jamie needs a friend. But the longer Adam holds on to Jamie’s ghost, the longer he keeps his friend tethered to a world where he no longer belongs…and the weaker Adam’s own ties to the living become. Now, to find his way back, Adam must learn for himself what it truly means to be alive.
