‘Shadow’ Exclusive Clip: This Child Should Be Afraid Of Their Mother’s Shadow
Mother knows best, but what about her sentient shadow? In the new short film, aptly titled Shadow, a young girl and her mother must fight back against her mother’s own killer doppelganger of sorts. And from just our exclusive clip, this film looks like it’s going to be killer.
Watch our exclusive clip from the film below:
Kamell Allaway directed the short. In his director’s statement, he addresses his personal connection to its subject matter:
“With a family history of mental illness and addiction, I’m compelled to encapsulate the horrors created by the mind, the nightmare that it can become, as well as the strength required to confront and manage your own demons.
Shadow aims to honor the hideous pain of suffering, as well as the beauty in every human’s sacred ability to recover. Although this film depicts a horrific encounter with mental illness and trauma, Shadow remains a spiritual story of human strength, resiliency, and most of all, forgiveness.
In the face of impossible circumstances, in the face of impending death, we abide and we endure.”
Katy Wright-Mead, Valentina Gordon, and Christy St. John star in the short.
Shadow will have its world premiere at the Slamdance Film Fest in the Narrative Shorts program on January 22, 2024.
