Bend Studio Continues Post-Launch Support For Days Gone With Patch That Cuts File Size In Half

I haven’t really had a chance to pick up Days Gone since I first reviewed it for Dread Central. Despite some of the negative press it got, I really liked the game. I feel that it really hit its stride by the second act, and it’s one of the few open-world games I was compelled to 100%. Now that I know that Bend Studio has been updating the game, I’ll have to go and give it another look.

Dropping today, the 1.61 Days Gone patch mostly consists of bugfixes. The big deal news is that the patch cuts the game’s file size in half, from a whopping 61GB to around 38GB. Okay, so not quite in half, but close enough. This is welcome news to people like me with 500GB PS4s. Yes, I know you can upgrade the hard drive. No, I won’t bother to do that. Yes, I understand that makes me a worse game. These are just things I have to live with.

The patch comes a few months after the last major update (1.6) added the ability to reset the Hordes, Ambush Camps, and Infestation Zones that made the game so memorable. Previously, players would have to restart the game to replay their favorite moments. Now, players that have 100% completion in the relevant storyline will be able to replay any section they want. It also came with a few new Death Stranding themed items for your bike, which is fine. I don’t really care what my bike looks like, but I’m sure many of you out there do.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out Days Gone, you can pick it up now on the PSN for just $39.99.
