New Trailer For Control’s The Foundation DLC Promises Even More Exceptional Weirdness
I have a huge soft spot for Remedy’s most recent horror/sci-fi/SCP shooter Control. Not only was it a secret Alan Wake game, but it was also the first review I ever did for DreadXP. As you can tell from my 4.5/5 score, I absolutely adored it. It was the perfect blend of sci-fi and horror, empowering players in ways uncommon for most horror titles. Ever since the credits rolled, I’ve been waiting patiently for DLC to come and elaborate on the vast extended universe. With The Foundation DLC later this month, we’ll be getting the first taste of what’s to come.
Okay, I’ll admit, the trailer doesn’t tell us much. Luckily, there’s an Official Press Release with more details:
The Foundation expansion will delve into the Oldest House’s history. Jesse is alerted by the Board that a situation has arisen in the Foundation, the bedrock of the Oldest House. A mysterious structure called the Monolith has been damaged, resulting in the Astral Plane leaking into the Foundation. If Jesse does not find a way to stop it, the entire Oldest House, along with the Bureau, will be consumed by this invading dimension.
Still kind of vague… so here’s more details from the video description:
In The Foundation, the Astral Plane is colliding with our reality. Jesse Faden, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, must travel through the caverns of the Foundation to prevent the Astral Plane from consuming the Oldest House. The missing Head of Operations, Helen Marshall, may hold some answers to the mysteries surrounding this threat. As she travels deeper, Jesse will learn more about Marshall’s disappearance, and about the enigmatic Board.
The Foundation DLC will also feature new weapons and mods based on the Oldest House’s mysterious past. Players who purchased the Digitial Deluxe edition of Control for PC/PS4 will be able to access the content on March 24th. An Xbox One version is releasing on June 25th. If you just bought the base game, you can get The Foundation DLC for $15, or as part of the $25 Season Pass. The Season Pass also comes bundled with a second expansion, titled AWE, which is coming this summer. You can check out Control on the Epic Games Store by clicking here.
