Childhood Fears Come Alive When The Inner Friend Comes To Consoles April 28th
I know there are a lot of indie horror games where an innocent child has to puzzle and platform their way through a deeply symbolic artistically surreal world. It’s practically its own genre. And 2018’s The Inner Friend is definitely one of those. Not saying that negatively. A ton of people love this style of artistic horror over the classic blood and guts and ghosts. I’m just saying that chances are, you’ll know if The Inner Friend is the game for you.
Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of people missed this one the first time around. It’s a shame really, since The Inner Friend is a gorgeous game. It’s deeply evocative, and really brings its nightmares to life. You play as The Shadow, which I think is the memories of some kid. It’s not a game that just spells things out for you. It rewards you if you take your time and make the connections between the visuals. This new version, coming to Xbox One and PS4, will also include a new alternate ending. PC gamers need not worry, as this new ending will also be coming in an update to the PC version.
So if you’re a console gamer and want to get your hands on The Inner Friend, you can grab it April 28th on PS4 and Xbox One for $15. If you missed it on the PC and want to check it out, you can click here for the Steam store page.
