Nowadays everyone has a web series, and we cannot possibly cover them all so we spend our time weeding through the good, bad, and ugly to bring you only the choicest of cuts. Case in point: It Came From the VCR from Scorpio Film Releasing.
From the Press Release
Scorpio Film Releasing, New England’s most prolific feature film production company, has taken to the small screen for the release of its newest project, the new web series IT CAME FROM THE VCR. Episode One, titled “Crash Site,” was released this week.
IT CAME FROM THE VCR is an original web series by Scorpio Film Releasing, those lovable lunatics who brought you such cult classics as NUN OF THAT and THE DISCO EXORCIST. Each month they will bring you a short film in the vein of the classic 80s “Shot on Video” films: horror, sci-fi, comedy, and action. Each month a different exciting film from some of the best up-and-coming writers, directors, and actors in independent film will bring you back to the wonderful days of the corner video store. The first episode is “Crash Site,” written by Seth Chitwood and Michael Varrati and directed by Richard Griffin. “Crash Site” is a far out sci-fi short about a WAY too close encounter.
Director Richard Griffin explains, “For years we’ve looked at producing an original web series, but we were always looking for the right angle. Now, with IT CAME FROM THE VCR, we’re showing our love for the indie cinema pioneers of the 80s with their direct-to-VHS movies like Wood Chipper Massacre, Blood Cult, and Video Violence.”
Crash Site, the first episode of IT CAME FROM THE VCR, stars Johnny Sederquist, Jamie Lyn Bagley, Mat Clerrico, Shannon Hartman, Ryan Hanley, Olivia Larsen, Rob Roy, Christian Masters, and Michael Thurber as “The Producer.”
