Maneater Launch Trailer Has Gruesome Shark Combat And Probably Not Realistic Shark Powers
Tripwire Interactive released a new trailer for their highly anticipated shark game Maneater today. Maneater is an open world (or rather, open ocean) role-playing game where you must survive the harsh waters and become the apex predator.
This style of shark gameplay is typically only seen on mobile games, such as Hungry Shark World, so it will be interesting to see what a triple-A studio can come up with. The shark combat shown in the Maneater trailer is fluid and acrobatic, with the shark leaping out of the water doing barrel rolls to avoid incoming bullets and tail-whipping an explosive back onto the ship that launched it. The trailer also displays a number of new shark abilities and upgrades, such as skin made of hardened bone and an electric eel inspired energy blast.
Among the gameplay progression, upgrades, and combat, this newest Maneater trailer also shows off what the story will entail. Ripped from the uterus of your poor shark mama, the shark you play as must fight your way to the top of the food chain, against machine gun-wielding shark hunters, saltwater crocodiles, and what appears to be a Cajun re-imagining of the vengeful Captain Ahab.
Maneater will be arriving on May 22nd. It will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For more information, you can check out Tripwire’s website here.
