Upcoming Game Chasing Static Is A Shocking Silent Hill Style Horror
Coming soon by Sick Chicken Studios is Chasing Static. “Inspired by 80s Sci-Fi horror and contemporary surrealist cinema, Chasing Static delivers a unique take on the narrative adventure genre through new audio driven gameplay mechanics and non-linear exploration.” Channeling the sleepy visual aesthetic of Silent Hill 2 with the unsettling science-went-and-goofed premise of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., this game could be a strong addition to the retro horror genre.
Chasing Static puts you in the perspective of Chris Selwood, seeking refuge from a raging storm inside a roadside cafe. When Chris hears the terrified screams of the waitress coming from outside, he ventures into the woods and discovers the “the forgotten remains of a government cover-up where a mysterious phenomenon caused time to stand still.”
Sick Chicken has stated that their goal for Chasing Static is to create a PS1 style game with the insights of modern gaming development. In addition to AAA quality sound design, Chasing Static also contains non-linear gameplay. Exploration is encouraged, and you may go about “uncovering it’s secrets in any order you please.”
