Yet more casting news for MGM and Fox 2000’s reboot of the classic 80s horror flick Poltergeist has come in, and this time Deadline is reporting that Sherlock Holmes‘ Jared Harris is next to get spooked!
In the film Harris (“Mad Men,” The Ward) will play Carrigan, a larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show “Haunted House Cleaners.”
Harris joins the previously announced Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Kyle Catlett.
The story follows the Bowens (Rockwell and DeWitt), whose life is suddenly disrupted after a supernatural force takes over their home and begins terrorizing them. Catlett will play one of the Bowen children.
Poltergeist Summary:
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), a division of MGM Holdings Inc., has partnered with Fox 2000 Pictures, a division of Twentieth Century Fox, to co-finance and distribute Poltergeist.
Gil Kenan (Monster House) directs from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz: The Great and Powerful). The film is produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) and Rob Tapert (The Possession) via Ghost House Pictures along with Roy Lee (The Strangers). Nathan Kahane (The Grudge) serves as executive producer.
In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.
