It was in 2010 that Frodo Baggins himself, Elijah Wood, launched his very own horror movie production company. A big fan of horror films, the lovable little maniac wanted to make his own contributions to the genre so he got together with some friends, and The Woodshed was born.
Today Deadline reports that the company has undergone a name change and will from this point forward be known as SpectreVision. The newly named company also launched its own music division, SpectreVision Management, and the name change reflects the company’s growth and increased scope. “As our company began to expand its horizons, the name SpectreVision served to exemplify more our broadened platform: technology capturing the ineffable,” said Wood.
Among SpectreVision’s current slate are horror-comedy Cooties, starring Alison Pill and Rainn Wilson; Toad Road, which is set for a theatrical/VOD release this year by Artsploitation; and Iran-set vampire love story A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, which is in post-production.
Whatever the name of the company is, we’re excited about what Wood and his pals have in store for us horror fans!
