With its high profile cast, seasoned director, and source material from Edgar Allan Poe, we have high hopes for Eliza Graves. Exec producer Christa Campbell and star Kate Beckinsale are keeping us posted on the film’s progress via Twitter and provided a look at the first poster.
The artwork arrived just in time to help sell the film at the currently under way Toronto International Film Festival and ties in nicely with the end of principal photography in Bulgaria, which the ladies tweeted about last night.
Eliza Graves is loosely based on one of Edgar Allan Poe’s early works, an 1845 short story titled “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether.” It’s written by Joe Gangemi and directed by Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Call, “Almost Human”). The cast includes Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, Michael Caine, Brendan Gleeson, David Thewlis, Jason Flemyng, and Sinéad Cusack. Producers are Bruce Davey, Mel Gibson, and Mark Amin with David Higgins, Christa Campbell, Cami Winikoff, Mark Gill, and Lati Grobman executive producing.
Synopsis:
A recent medical school grad who takes a position at a mental institution soon finds himself taken with one of his colleagues — though he has no initial idea of a recent, horrifying staffing change.
