Friday the 13th: The Game Shutting Down Dedicated Servers, No More Updates
All good things must come to an end. Today it was announced that Friday the 13th: The Game will be getting its final update this month, which will shut down dedicated servers.
The good news is that, despite the dedicated servers being shut down, the game will still continue to be playable. Instead of using the dedicated servers, you’ll connect peer to peer when selecting quick match or private matches. Additionally, the database servers will stay online, so all your progress will still be saved. You’ll be making that progress much quicker now, as the developers have chosen to extend the Halloween double XP event indefinitely.
If you haven’t played Friday the 13th: The Game yet, it’s a 4v1 multiplayer game where four players play as camp survivors while the other player is Jason Voorhees attempting to hunt them down. There are several ways for the counselors to win, including waiting for the police, escaping on the lake, and even straight-up teaming up to fight Jason. Just they need to do it without getting killed along the way. The game was just recently put on PlayStation Now, so if you have that service this is a chance to try it out.
Friday the 13th: The Game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
