The Plague Tale Continues in A Plague Tale: Requiem

In what may be the most pleasant surprise to me personally, A Plague Tale: Requiem was announced, continuing the story after A Plague Tale: Innocence.

The trailer was all CGI and didn’t show any gameplay, or give a release date past “2022,” but it does give us a very good idea on what to expect from the sequel. We get to see that the game will take place several years after the events of the first game, with both characters having aged up quite a bit. No more will you be a scared girl helping a defenseless child escape from the church. Now Amicia is shown with a crossbow, and is more than ready to bring the fight to them directly, and while Hugo is still young, he’s not quite as young. Also, you know, he has the ability to control rats, which is something he picked up at the end of the first game.

If you missed A Plague Tale: Innocence, the game takes place in the year 1348 and features a world that’s currently going through a plague. By this, I mean giant swarms of rats are infecting people with a sickness and trying to eat them alive. You play as Amicia, a young woman who’s only concern is trying to protect her younger brother Hugo from the church that seems interested in killing him. You know, for science. There’s way more to the story, but it’s rather impressive and 100% worth experiencing if you haven’t already. You can grab it on Steam, or a console of your choice, right now.

As for A Plague Tale: Requiem, there’s no set in stone release date or platforms, but you’ll be able to grab it some time in 2022. Also it’ll be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
