Honda’s Project Drive-In Makes Good!

Each passing year sees the closing of more and more drive-in theaters because their owners simply cannot afford the needed projectors to stay in business. It’s a truly sad state of events, but thankfully a nice bright spot has appeared courtesy of Honda’s Project Drive-In.
You see, all drive-in theaters must make the costly $75,000+ switch to digital projection by December 31st or go dark forever. One month ago, Honda started a movement to help preserve this treasured American icon. In a bid to help save what they refer to as an “iconic part of American car culture,” Honda opened up its checkbook and purchased five of those expensive digital projectors, with the recipients to be selected via online voting. The winners have been announced, and you can see the fruits of this endeavor in the truly touching video below.

In addition to the projectors they’ve generously donated, Honda has also launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise even more money, and save even more drive-ins. The fundraising goal is $100,000 and each time the goal is met, a brand new campaign will spring up in its place, each successful campaign saving another American drive-in.
So we encourage you to donate and spread the word to your friends. The future of the drive-in is quite frankly in our hands, and we need to do all we can to save it.
