If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers Free on Steam

A new point-and-click adventure released on Steam yesterday. If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers is now free to download and play. Four Travelers has garnered over 30,000 downloads on itch.io since its release on March 10. Four strangers tell their stories, each of them taking place in the late 1920s involving a train and a masquerade ball.

In a hotel room in Rome, Carlo awaits the arrival of his lover, Patrick. Living in the shadow of fascism leaves him anxious and tense at their continued clandestine meetings. Lady Winterbourne lost her husband in an accident, and now she must contend with pretenders to his vast fortunes and their letters every day. The only relief comes from the tempting bottle of laudanum in the cabinet. Dr. Jordan Samuels turned to the occult to seek vengeance on the colleagues who torment him. A Guardian of the Threshold, however, may prove to be too much for the man. Despite her happiness with her job, Laylah seeks something more. This yearning comes at the risk of going against the wishes of her very powerful boss. Each of them will face the music in their own way, whether it’s a joyful waltz or their final dirge.

If On A Winter's Night, Four Travelers Art Book Sample
The optional art book includes some behind-the-scenes content and lore.

Players can financially support the creator by purchasing a Supporter Pack for $3.99 on Steam, which contains a virtual art book (illustrations by Thomas Möhring) and score. The art book will contain bonus content, including peeks at what goes on behind the scenes during If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers. We’ve previously covered the game on our Ultra-Indie Spotlight Sunday back in mid-March, and it should give you an honest look at the point-and-click title. Don’t forget the trailer, either.

Dead Idle Games is based in Berlin. Laura Hunt provides coding, writing, and audio while Thomas Möhring handled the art direction. If On A Winter’s Night, Four Travelers marks the duo’s first appearance on Steam. Previous titles include In the pines, in the pines, where the sun never shines and A Room Without You In It.
