“Supernatural” Season 9 premieres on October 8th, but the week before, on October 1st, another new companion book for the show arrives: Supernatural, The Television Series: The Roads Not Taken, written by Tim Waggoner with illustrations by Zachary Baldus.
Waggoner’s no newbie to the world of hunting Winchester style. He also wrote Supernatural: Carved in Flesh (review here), released this past spring. If you’re looking for something to fill the void until the bickering brothers return to the small screen via The CW, The Roads Not Taken could be just the ticket.
Synopsis:
Based on the hit Warner Bros. TV series “Supernatural” (on The CW Tuesdays at 9/8c), this interactive adventure from Insight Editions will let fans control the action as they follow demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester on their exciting exploits through a host of twists and turns—discovering a case, following leads, researching, and finally defeating the monster. Whether the reader is new to the “Supernatural” family or has been with them since the beginning, they’re in for a wild and surprising ride with The Roads Not Taken.
For the first time ever, the reader can make decisions alongside Sam and Dean Winchester in their quest to battle monsters, demons, and every Big Bad lurking in the darkest recesses of America’s small towns. Jump headfirst into the adventure and pick a cover story: Will you be an FBI agent, reporter, or bikini inspector? Figure out which lead to follow. Decide whether to split up or stay together. Do you call Bobby Singer for help? And remember, the clock is ticking! If you make the wrong decision, another victim could meet a dark and gory end.
Demons, spirits, and ghouls lurk around every corner, waiting to get the drop on Sam and Dean — and only by following all the clues, interviewing the right suspects, and making the right choices can the reader lead them to victory. This heart-pounding collection contains a series of four original stories, each with branching storylines and multiple endings, all based on the choices the reader makes.
