Demonschool: Slay Demons, Save World, Pass Calculus
If you’ve been hankering for a real Shin Megami Tensei game, you may need to wait a while. However, if you’re looking for something that takes inspiration from SMT and its spinoff Persona series, you’re in luck. Demonschool draws on the JRPGs along with Italian horror films, and expects to launch next year. Find it on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series One and X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Steam Decks.
New students arrive at a “prestigious” university for classes. Faye, the last living heir of a demon-hunting family, finds the semester spinning out of control. Closing the breach between the human and demon worlds will require snap tactical decisions. Gain power by attending classes and engaging in extracurriculars, befriend or even romance your classmates, and explore the town full of weirdos. And if you make a mistake, just be kind to your hit points, rewind.
And yet each encounter brings Faye and her misfit friends closer to unraveling a vast conspiracy. Between juggling classes, a social life, and the invading hordes of demons, college really is a hellacious experience.
“We wanted to create a game with complete transparency while still allowing for mystery. You’ll never have to guess at numbers or what does what. We hope the story carries you through to a positive vision for the future, and what is possible when like-minded individuals work together against a larger evil.”
