Even though the season premiere of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is less than 24 hours away, the casting news continues as actors have been found to bring two of the comics’ most beloved characters into the fold.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh McDermitt has joined the zombie drama in the series regular role of Dr. Eugene Porter. He’ll be joined by “Southland” alum Michael Cudlitz as his traveling companion (and series regular role) Abraham, producers announced Saturday at New York Comic Con, where the actor was a surprise addition, appearing in character from the audience.
In the comics, Eugene is a former high school science teacher who first appears in the 53rd issue of the series. He travels with sports coach/Army Sgt. Abraham Ford (Cudlitz) and Rosita (new recurring player Christian Serratos). The trio eventually cross paths with Rick as they make their way to Washington. However, unbeknown to Rick as well as eventual couple Abraham and Rosita, Eugene is lying when he claims to know what caused the zombie outbreak and instead is using the physically superior former sports coach to protect him.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, “The Walking Dead” stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Scott Wilson, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Chad Coleman, and Sonequa Martin-Green. The series is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Tom Luse, and Greg Nicotero.
“The Walking Dead” Episode 4.01, “30 Days Without an Accident” (10/13/13) – SEASON 4 PREMIERE
Rick and the group are as close to an ideal life as possible at the prison. Will they be able to hold on to humanity in the face of a new evil? Written by Scott Gimple and directed by Greg Nicotero.
