Anthology Series Darknet Ready for a Halloween PremiereThe team behind films like Splice and Ginger Snaps have a horror series called Darknet headed our way, which will premiere on the scariest damn night of the year. Read on for details and to check out the first teaser clip.

From the Press Release
Copperheart Entertainment announces that a sneak peek of the first full episode of Darknet, the Canadian horror anthology web and television series designed for the 21st century Internet mindset, will drop on October 31, 2013, at 12:01 AM on darknetfiles.com. Darknet is adapted from the cult Japanese television series Tori Hada by Vincenzo Natali (Haunter, Splice, Cube) and Steven Hoban (Haunter, Splice, Black Christmas, Ginger Snaps). The online presentation will be followed by a broadcast premiere of the six 30-minute episodes in early 2014 on Super Channel. The pilot episode of the series, written and directed by Vincenzo Natali, features David Hewlett and Michelle Alexander. International sales will be handled by Peacock Alley Entertainment.

Episode 1 Synopsis:
Four interwoven stories of urban terror. A young woman rides the subway, lost in her own world as music blasts in her earphones, oblivious to the horror happening around her. A man follows a trail of strange objects secreted away in a series of lockers, leading to an unnerving discovery. A medical student suspects someone is getting into her apartment and sets a trap to get answers. A pizza delivery guy jokingly replies to a question posted on a mysterious website called Darknet: What’s the best way to get rid of a body?

The prototype season of Darknet consists of six episodes that weave together bite-sized servings of fear in the big city. These episodes will appear exclusively in Canada on Super Channel, and segments will be made available to fans at the Super Channel and Darknet websites. Darknet offers snippets of people’s lives being interrupted by vivid jolts of unexpected violence or shocking strangeness. Shot in a visceral style that cranks up the creep factor, viewers become part of the Darknet, a mysterious closed network of disturbing imagery and stories that exist just under the surface of our ordered and safe society.

Darknet is directed by Natali, Hoban, Brett Sullivan (“Orphan Black,” Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed), Rodrigo Gudiño (The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh) and newcomers Anthony Scott Burns and Jeremy Ball. The writers are Natali, Pascal Trottier, Doug Taylor (Splice), James Kee, Randall Cole (388 Arletta Ave) and Sarah Larsen. Darknet is executive produced by Vincenzo Natali and Steven Hoban, producers are Jensenne Roculan, Mark Smith (Haunter, 388 Arletta Ave), Paul Rapovski (Lost Girl) and supervising producer Kana Koido.
