From the Press Release
Newly formed Intense Distribution and 101 Films are pleased to announce they have acquired the UK rights to the acclaimed horror/thriller BANSHEE CHAPTER, written and directed by Blair Erickson and starring Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Katia Winter (‘Dexter’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’) and Michael McMillian (‘True Blood’).

The film focuses on Anne Roland (Katia Winter), a young journalist with an appetite for controversy, as she follows the trail of a strange government research chemical that might have caused the death of her close friend (Michael McMillian). After tracing the substance to the desert ranch of an infamous retired novelist (Ted Levine), she’s drawn into an experience of terror and frightening entities that she cannot escape. The events in this film are based on real documents, actual testimony, and evidence researched and uncovered from decades of a terrifying secret program run by the CIA.

BANSHEE CHAPTER received its World Premiere at FILM4 FrightFest, London, in August and has been selected to screen at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, where it will receive its North American premiere on October 24th, followed by screenings at the New York Horror Festival and the Australian Monster Festival.

The film was produced by Stephanie Riggs, Christian Arnold-Beutel (‘Ironclad’, ‘The Ledge’) and Before the Door’s Corey Moosa and Sean Akers. Zachary Quinto (‘Star Trek’, ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Heroes’) and Neal Dodson executive produced with Marcus Schoefer and Gudrun Giddings.

“We are so happy BANSHEE CHAPTER has found a home in the UK. Intense Distribution and 101 Films are great partners and will help us make sure the film reaches a wide range of fans through a multi-platform distribution model,” said Zachary Quinto.

Producer Christian Arnold-Beutel said “We strongly believe in BANSHEE CHAPTER, which was named scariest film of the 51 movies at this year’s Film4 FrightFest by Total Film, to be intelligent entertainment based on true events specifically relevant to what is happening in the US these days and existing phenomena like MKUltra, DMT and number stations. BANSHEE CHAPTER was shot in stereoscopic 3D and possibly the last 3D screening at the big screen of the Empire Cinema. We are excited about working with Chee’s Intense Distribution and the team at 101 Films as they are truly enthusiastic about our movie, hard working and very experienced in what has become a challenging market.”

Chee Keong Cheung who heads up Intense Distribution, a newly formed division of his production outfit Intense Productions said: “After such a strong response at Frightfest, together with 101 Films, we’re incredibly excited to have the opportunity to bring BANSHEE CHAPTER to UK audiences. It’s an extremely tense, atmospheric picture with a truly unique and horrific blend of fact and fiction.” Cheung adds “Intense Distribution was formed with the goal of working closely with both established and up and coming directors and producers on their films and I couldn’t have hoped for a better, more passionate, diverse and talented group of filmmakers to work with for our companies debut release.”

Cheung’s Intense Productions division is currently in development on the action/horror film ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, executive produced by Carlos Gallardo (‘El Mariachi’, ‘Desperado’) and Kevin Eastman (co-creator of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’) slated for production in 2014.

101 Films releases include the Scottish Cannibal horror SAWNEY: FLESH OF MAN and the re-release of the original 1978 cult film I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE. Andy Lyon of 101 Films added “101 Films is very proud to be involved with BANSHEE CHAPTER. This was our number 1 target at Frightfest this year and we are very much looking forward to working with Chee and Christian in making BANSHEE CHAPTER another Successful 101 release in 2014. 101 is one of the fastest growing film labels in the UK and the acquisition of this fantastic movie is another step forward for 101.”

The deal was negotiated by Chee Keong Cheung of Intense Distribution, Andy Lyon of 101 Films and Producer Christian Arnold-Beutel on behalf of BC Distribution.

The UK release of BANSHEE CHAPTER is a joint venture between Intense Distribution and 101 Films.

BANSHEE CHAPTER is scheduled for release in the UK in January 2014. Further details to be announced.
