What Lurks on Mulberry Street?
We recently got word about a new indie movie that just wrapped production and looks cooler than most, which as you know is our only prerequisite for mention on the site. We just want it to be different, damnit, and you’d be amazed how hard that is for most filmmakers to handle.
First-time feature director Jim Mickle looks like he may have pulled it off with Mulberry Street, so we’re going to tell you about it, too. The story takes place in New York City as summer makes itself known. A horrible disease is causing humans to devolve into hideous rat creatures, and six recently evicted tenants of the titular apartment complex must survive the night while protecting the remaining tenants.
See, how hard is that? A cool monster flick about people turning into rats and eating everything in sight; that’s what I want in my indie horror. Check out a whole set of stills from Mulberry Street below, then hit the film’s official site (which is also better than most indies) for a look at the trailer.
Fight the rat creatures that inhabit our forums!
