‘T Blockers’ Exclusive Clip: A Delightfully Disgusting Feast
Alice Maio Mackay has been blazing trails with her films since she was a teenager. Her previous films So Vam and Bad Girl Boogey are unabashedly queer films about surviving in a world that seems bent on eradicating queer people’s existence. This time, with her new film T Blockers, Mackay combines the ’90s hang-out film with more traditional body horror to create an authentic story about navigating the world as a trans woman, while trying to fight ancient worms.

In small-town Australia, a nightmare is brewing. Sophie is a young filmmaker obsessed with finding a thought-to-be long-lost film. Meanwhile, an earthquake unleashes ancient parasites that thrive on hatred, causing outbursts of violence. Now Sophie and her friends, struggling with dating and their undesirable jobs, must also face off against an ancient evil that spreads like wildfire.
In her review of the film from the 2023 Salem Horror Fest, Dread Central’s Sharai Bohannon wrote,
“This movie is punk rock. It’s neon colors, glitter, resistance, and is clapping back at transphobia from the first frame to the last. It’s the prettiest drink during your favorite happy hour that happens to be the strongest on the menu. T Blockers is a hit of catharsis wrapped in serotonin.”
Lauren Last, Lewi Dawson, Joe Romeo, Chris Asimos, Joni Ayton-Kent, Stanley Browning, and Lisa Fanto star in the film. Mackay co-wrote T Blockers with her writing partner Benjamin Pahl Robinson.
T Blockers is out now on digital and VOD from Dark Star Pictures.
