Final Destination

Buckle up, horror lovers, because Death is back in town. Filming for the sixth entry in the Final Destination franchise is underway. Oh, and it has an official title: Final Destination: Bloodlines.

Originally reported by Bloody Disgusting, Final Destination producer Craig Perry took to Facebook to share that yesterday marked their first completed day of shooting. He also posted a photo of a chair emblazoned with the official title.

On top of that, DOP Christian Sebaldt also shared his own Final Destination: Bloodlines photo to Instagram, further proving that production is on and cameras are up.

Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, directors of Freaks, are helming the latest installment in the series known for Rube Goldberg machines and intricate death sequences. The series is known for a very specific format, but according to franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick, writers Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick are taking Final Destination to another level.

In a 2022 interview with our own Tyler Doupé, he said, “It’s a true Final Destination movie but it doesn’t follow that formula that we’ve established.”

In a later interview with Collider, Reddick elaborated, saying

“This film doesn’t just kind of add another layer. Usually there’s a new layer every film where it’s like, ‘Oh, well, this can save you or this can save you.’ This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that – I’m being so careful.”

Final Destination: Bloodlines is slated to hit theaters next year. Keep your eye on Dread Central for more updates!
