‘Infested’ Trailer: Spiders, Spiders, Everywhere

Infested

The itsy bitsy spider fell down the water spout and took over an apartment building, at least in director and co-writer Sébastien Vaniček‘s feature film debut Infested. Notoriously filmed with actual spiders, Vaniček and co-writer Florent Bernard take spider horror to another level. Now, Shudder has released the film’s official trailer, giving you but a taste of the arachnid horrors that await.

Read the full synopsis below:

Kaleb is about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over an inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a venomous spider in a shop and brings it back to his apartment. It only takes a moment for the spider to escape and reproduce, turning the whole building into a dreadful web trap. The only option for Kaleb and his friends is to find a way out and survive.

In her review of the film from Fantastic Fest 2023, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote,

Infested is [REC]—not in style but in story—meets Attack The Block covered in just an ungodly amount of spiders. Vaniček strikes a delicate balance between scares and humanity, which results in what will go down as one of the best creature features of the 21st century. It’s familiar yet new, terrifying yet heart-breaking.

Also, importantly, Vaniček is slated to direct the next Evil Dead film. So if you’re curious about what he can do, don’t miss Infested. You won’t be disappointed.

Théo Christine, Finnegan Oldfield, Jérôme Niel, Sofia Lesaffre, and Lisa Nyark star in the film, along with just a few actual spiders.

Infested comes to Shudder on April 26, 2024.
