Underrated Denzel Washington Thriller Dominates Prime Video Charts: “A rarely seen gem”
If the Dread Central staff were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one thing with us, we’d all probably bring a different Denzel Washington movie. We love him here. We love his taste in Lynchian nightmares. We love his franchise entries that masquerade as slasher movies. And we love Fallen. A lot. If you can’t get enough Denzel, have no fear. One of his most successful blockbusters, 2012’s Safe House, recently landed on Prime Video. Check out a trailer and synopsis below:
Per Prime Video: Oscar-winner Denzel Washington stars in this high tension, action-packed thriller as a lethal prisoner who is escorted from a compromised safe house by a CIA Agent (Ryan Reynolds). They must make their way to another safe house in South Africa without being taken out by violent forces that want them both dead.
It’s a thrilling odyssey we’ve spotlighted here before. It’s arguably one of Denzel Washington’s best from the 2010s. It’s gruff, no-nonsense, and consistently surprising. Safe House’s arrival on Prime Video is as good a reason as any to revisit it. If that doesn’t convince you, check out what fans have been saying about it over the years:
It’s Denzel Washington, people. I don’t know what else to say. Still, beyond Safe House, you can also catch Inside Man, The Hurricane, and Much Ado About Nothing streaming on Prime Video as well. Make a whole weekend of it, especially with Much Ado About Nothing—I love that movie.
