‘Alien: Romulus’ Trailer: The Xenomorphs Are Back, Baby
Fede Alvarez loves a good requel, whether it be his delightfully repulsive Evil Dead in 2013 or the incredibly divisive Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2022 (he only wrote that one, though). Now, he’s tackling one of horror’s most terrifying creatures in his upcoming film with 20th Century Studios, Alien: Romulus. He’s been teasing the film for months and now we finally have our first look in the form of a teaser trailer!
We still only have a one-sentence plot synopsis, which reads, “While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.“
Now, check out the short but tense teaser:
I don’t think there’s much more terrifying than a pack of baby Xenomorphs running after you, so consider me excited to see Alvarez’s take on the classic piece of sci-fi horror.
Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu star in Alien: Romulus. Alvarez directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (Don’t Breathe 2) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
Ridley Scott, director of the original Alien, produced the film with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill. Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran serve as executive producers.
Alien: Romulus opens exclusively in theaters nationwide on August 16, 2024.
