After director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) left the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand last week, Warner Bros. has been actively seeking someone new to take the helm. Our friends over at Badass Digest have just revealed the studio’s top pick!
According to the site, Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93, Captain Phillips) is at the top of Warner Bros.’ wishlist. Other names being thrown around are Cary Fukunaga (Sin Nombre), Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), and Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners).
The Stand is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. It features dozens of characters (including such memorable ones as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping storylines running over many years as it tells of a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.
