This “Underrated” Tarantino Film Is Now Free-To-Stream
When it comes to Tarantino, fans are quick to point to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, or Kill Bill as being among the director’s best work. But few seem to hold Jackie Brown in such high regard. And that’s too bad. While the picture may not be the enthusiastic director’s absolute best film, it’s undeniably noteworthy. A top-notch cast, a gritty aesthetic reminiscent of the exploitation films of the ‘70s, memorable needle drops, and a standout performance from Pam Grier make this flick a must-see.
If you haven’t yet experienced Jackie Brown, I would urge you to rectify that at your earliest convenience. If you’re game to give the flick some love, you can find the 1997 feature streaming on Tubi as of the publication of this post.
In addition to Grier as the titular character, the film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Bowen, Michael Keaton, Bridget Fonda, Robert Forster, Robert Deniro, and Chris Tucker.
The setup goes like this: When flight attendant Jackie Brown (Grier) is busted smuggling money for her arms dealer boss, Ordell Robbie (Jackson), agent Ray Nicolette (Keaton) and detective Mark Dargus (Bowen) want her help to bring down Robbie. Facing jail time for her silence or death for her cooperation, Brown decides instead to double-cross both parties and make off with the smuggled money. Meanwhile, she enlists the help of bondsman Max Cherry (Forster), a man who loves her.
