It’s the # 1 Horror Series On Hulu: “I didn’t think she’d be good, but Kim Kardashian is great”

American Horror Story used to be a must-see television. Event television. Murder House was incredible. Asylum was chock-full of camp and questionable twists, but it was committed enough to its own central conceit to work. And then, of course, there’s Coven. I have no shame—I had Coven nights at my house. Every Wednesday, my friends and I would get together to stream the anthology series’ third season.

Then came Freakshow. That fourth season arrived, and concurrently, the built-in audience departed. Viewership would continue to decline in a distinctly different streaming environment than when the show first premiered. So, you might be surprised to hear American Horror Story is on its twelfth season. This time, it’s been split into two parts, and the latter half of Season 12 is currently number one on Hulu.

Per Hulu: After multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her—and her pursuit of motherhood.

The recent season stars Emma Roberts, a series mainstay, and Kim Kardashian, interestingly enough. Titled Delicate, the season culls from the likes of Rosemary’s Baby in a tale of pregnancy horror. While the series, and spinoff American Horror Stories, chug along, it’s a markedly more competitive climate now than when the series first premiered. American Horror Story struck a nerve because, in 2009, there wasn’t much horror television airing. Streaming was in its infancy, and there were few episodic options available to genre fans.

Since then, the likes of From, Chucky, The Exorcist, Evil, 30 Coins, and Lovecraft Country have come along, diversifying the television horror slate. I could keep going, too. There are innumerable options available, and American Horror Story, unfortunately, doesn’t yield the cultural cache it once did. That’s probably Roanoke’s fault. Which, if you’re interested, is also streaming on Hulu.

Still, the series has its fans (it did top the Hulu charts, after all), and they’ve taken to social media to share their thoughts on the second half of Season 12.

Check out some choice reactions below:

So, expectedly, some positive and negative reactions. It wouldn’t be American Horror Story without some polarizing responses.

What do you think? Do you plan to check out Delicate on Hulu? More importantly, which season of the show is your favorite? I’m an Asylum junkie myself. Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins!
