Sinister director Scott Derrickson’s next film Beware the Night has been given a title change to go along with its recently announced bumped up release date and will now be known as Deliver Us From Evil.
Look for it in theaters on July 2nd of next year. This move speaks volumes in regards to how confident they are about the movie, which they hope will scare up big time box office numbers, the way The Conjuring did this past summer. We shall see!
Joel McHale, Sean Harris, Edgar Ramirez, and Olivia Munn star alongside Eric Bana. The film re-teams Clint Culpepper’s Sony-based company with The Exorcism of Emily Rose tandem of Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman. The film is a paranormal thriller that will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Derrickson will direct a script he and Boardman wrote.
In the flick Bana plays an Irish Catholic cop working a case when he meets a renegade priest (Ramirez). Despite the cop’s beliefs, he’s convinced by the priest that there is a demonic element, and together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them. Munn plays the cop’s wife, who also has a tie to the case.
Screen Gems is hoping this will blossom into a franchise.
