New ‘Brute 1976’ Poster Promise Brutal, Sun-Soaked Horrors
Get ready for one bloody road trip this summer with the upcoming release of Marcel Walz’s new film Brute 1976. Walz is the mind behind films such as That’s A Wrap and Pretty Boy, creating violent and campy horror experiences that are a bit divisive, to say the least. The new film is heading to the Cannes Film Market via Raven Banner Entertainment.
Currently wrapping up post-production, Walz directed Brute 1976 with a script by Joe Knetter. Adriane McLean, Sarah French, Dazelle Yvette, and Gigi Gustin star in the film. Robert Kern III (Prey, Creepypasta) headed up the makeup effects, bringing plenty of gore to the screen, which you can see below.
Read the film’s synopsis below:
In 1976, a group of people in the desert for a photo shoot stumble upon an abandoned town called Savage. But they are not alone. A family of masked psychopaths have claimed Savage as their own and are hell-bent on living up to its name.
Summer Can’t Get Here Quick Enough
From the poster and grindhouse throwback vibes, it seems that Walz wants to capitalize on the love for Ti West’s X. Obviously the chainsaw blade on the cover is an homage to Tobe Hooper’s iconic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, too, which also influenced X. Bring on the sun-soaked horror and blood-stained sand, because horror could always use more of that.
Peek at some of the Brute 1976 lobby cards below to get more of that daytime horror. They all capture the film’s gritty and violent aesthetic created by Walz and cinematographer Marcus Friedlander (The Getback, That’s A Wrap).
