Terminator Reboot May Have Found its John Connor in Jason Clarke

News has been coming out of the Terminator camp hot and heavy recently, and it was just this past weekend that we found out the film has officially been named Terminator: Genesis. But who’s going to be playing iconic character John Connor? I’ll be right back, and then I’ll let you know…

According to Deadline, Jason Clarke is in talks to play Connor in the reboot, the leader of the rebellion against the Skynet artificial intelligence system bent on wiping out the human race. Clarke has recently impressed in a series of big time flicks, including Zero Dark Thirty and The Great Gatsby, and he’ll next be seen in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
This news comes shortly after we found out that Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) and Brie Larson are the frontrunners for the role of Sarah Connor.
Set for a July 1, 2015, release, the latest Terminator will be the fifth installment of the storied movie series, which began in 1984 as an indie distributed by Orion. Schwarzenegger starred in all but the last one, 2009’s Terminator Salvation, in which he made only a digitally processed cameo.
The film’s plot details have not been revealed other than this is the first installment in a stand-alone trilogy. Skydance and Annapurna will co-finance along with Paramount with David Ellison producing for Skydance and Megan Ellison producing for Annapurna. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script, and Alan Taylor will direct.
