Netflix Has Added a Dark and Twisted Denzel Washington Thriller Not for the Faint of Heart
While we all wait for Denzel Washington to appear in Gladiator 2, Ridley Scott’s long-gestating sequel to his 2000 blockbuster hit, plenty of great Denzel Washington films are streaming for free to pass the time. You might consider Inside Man on Netflix, one of Spike Lee’s best, or one of the three Equalizer movies, all of which are presently available to stream.
If you’re looking for something more somber and akin to Washington’s early work—I’m talking Fallen and The Bone Collector early—you might consider checking out 2021’s The Little Things. And, lucky you! It’s available to stream right now on Netflix.
Per Netflix: This noir thriller stars Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Rami Malek as an unlikely duo investigating a string of insidious murders around LA.
Insidious murder is my least favorite kind of murder! However, the qualifier is apt, largely because Jared Leto’s Albert Sparma is suspected by both Washington’s Deacon and Malek’s Baxter of being the culprit. Luckily, there’s not so much Leto. Instead, director John Lee Hancock principally focuses on the two investigators. Denzel Washington is expectedly good, though Malek, always a treat when given the right material, matches him regularly.
Incredulously, Jared Leto received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, which… fine. Whatever. But The Little Things is very much Denzel Washington’s movie through and through, the kind of gritty noir thriller he truly excels at. Critical reviews were mixed, but it remains one of Washington’s most surprising performances in recent years.
Expectedly, it remains a favorite among his fans. Check out what audiences have had to say about The Little Things below:
