Quentin Tarantino Once Guest-Starred on this Surprising Cult Series Now Streaming on Disney+
There’s an entire catalog of early aughts television that retains a special place in my heart simply because I grew up watching them. I loved genre television especially, so any show that got a little spooky, a little freaky, easily wormed its way into my heart. Obviously, there’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer and The X-Files, both classics, but I also messed around with Tru Calling (canceled too soon), Moonlight (a sexy vampire show, also canceled too soon), and, of course, Alias. Jennifer Garner, you have my heart.
The entirety of Alias is available to stream for free on Disney Plus, though you might be surprised to hear that none other than Quentin Tarantino, a huge fan of the show, actually guest-starred for two episodes in the first season.
Per Disney Plus: Traveling around the world incognito. Fighting the bad guys. Wrestling with inner demons. For young spy Sydney Bristow, this is a typical day at her not-so-typical job as a secret agent.
I had the Alias video game on my PS2. Quentin Tarantino probably did too. In a 2002 Rolling Stone feature on the show, he remarked, “Alias delivers what The Man From U.N.C.L.E. always promised: It actually lives up to the coolness of its potential,” further going on to say the show was the only new premiere he had any interest in watching. He was a huge fan of star Jennifer Garner, too, reportedly having said to her, “Just so you know, you’re gonna work forever. You don’t have to prove nothin’ to nobody no more.”
Quentin Tarantino loved the show so much, he guest-starred in two of the first season’s episodes, both The Box (Part 1)” and “The Box (Part 2).” Tarantino played the villainous McKenas Cole, the leader of a group of armed intruders hellbent on taking over SD-6 for revenge. Of course, he’s apprehended and taken into custody, though that wasn’t the end of him. Tarantino as McKenas would return in Season 3 episode “After Six.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Alias? Do you remember Quentin Tarantino’s guest role? Don’t forget, you can catch the entire series now on Disney Plus. Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins.
