Peacock Adds Denzel Washington Thriller Critics Hated, Now Fans Say It’s Great – Don’t Miss It

Denzel Washington

Who doesn’t love Denzel Washington? The Oscar-winning actor is a national treasure. He has a great range of abilities and usually chooses his roles smartly. But he’s only human and appeared in a handful of motion pictures that didn’t resonate with critics. One of the actor’s less celebrated films is now available to stream on Peacock. I’m talking about the 2012 action thriller Safe House.

As I mentioned, Safe House was not a hit with film critics. The feature sits at an approval rating of just 53% ‘fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film’s audience score is slightly better. 63% of viewers have a favorable opinion of the picture. If you haven’t seen Safe House and would like to give it a shot, you can find the flick streaming on Peacock as of the publication of this post.

In addition to Washington, the film stars Ryan Reynolds, Nora Arnezeder, Brendan Gleeson, and Vera Farmiga. Daniel Espinosa (Morbius) directed Safe House, and David Guggenheim (the scribe behind the 2012 Nic Cage film Stolen) penned the script.

If you’re not familiar with it, the setup goes like this: For the past year, rookie CIA agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) has been eager to prove himself while cooling his heels at an inactive South African post. He gets the chance when Tobin Frost (Washington), a turncoat operative, is brought to Weston’s safe house for debriefing. But soon after Frost’s arrival, mercenaries attack, and Weston and Frost barely escape with their lives. The two men must join forces and try to stay alive long enough to figure out who wants them dead.

That’s all we’ve got for you, dear reader, for the time being. Stay tuned to the site in the coming days for more updates on what’s streaming and where to find it. Also, be sure to follow @Dread Central on Twitter so you never miss an update.
