This New Netflix Thriller Has a Shocking Twist Ending: “10/10”

netflix vanished in the night

Another week, another Netflix chart-topper. This week, at least, it’s a good one. Director Renato De Maria’s Vanished into the Night is sitting pretty in the Netflix Top 10, having arrived on the platform just before the weekend. The crime thriller starring Ricardo Scamarcio, Massimiliano Gallo, and Annabelle Wallis (Malignant) has been a huge hit with audiences. It’s the kind of brain-teaser Netflix excels at. It’s brimming with incredulous twists, heaps of melodrama, and enough tension to make a John Grisham superfan blush.

Per Netflix: When their children mysteriously disappear, a divorcing couple is dragged into despair as a dreadful secret threatens to shatter their world forever.

Movies like Vanished into the Night keep me connected. It’s an everyone movie, really. Undoubtedly, peers of mine who know I like (love) movies will ask this week whether I’ve seen that new thriller on Netflix, and they’ll be talking about Vanished into the Night. The same thing happened when Brad Anderson’s Fractured was released, so now I preempt by watching them as soon as I can.

Netflix’s Vanished into the Night isn’t even all that bad. It’s wildly illogical and deeply silly as it barrels toward its endgame, mounting twist after twist with such abandon, that it can be hard to keep up. Yet, at the same time, the movie remains so committed to its excess, that it’s impossible to resist its spell.

Audiences online have felt the same way. As Vanished into the Night climbs the charts, more viewers have been roped into its mystery.
