This Critically Panned Denzel Washington Thriller Is Now Free To Stream

Denzel Washington (Deja Vu)

Denzel Washington has had a very dynamic career. The Oscar-winning actor has appeared in hard-hitting dramas, intense biopics, and popcorn fare alike. They can’t all be critical darlings. But even some of Washington’s lesser offerings are noteworthy because of the actor’s dynamic screen presence. One such example, Déjà Vu, recently made its way to Tubi and is now free-to-stream.

For anyone unfamiliar, the setup goes like this:

The team behind the top-secret program brings ATF agent Doug Carlin (Washington) into its midst to capture the terrorist (Jim Caviezel) responsible for a ferry bombing that left hundreds dead. Its amazing technology lets the team fold time four days backward and see the madman’s movements as he plots to kill a woman who could give him away. Doug realizes that the technology could allow him to do what law-enforcement officers dream of—go back in time to prevent the crime.

Although Déjà Vu didn’t quite win critics over, fans love this twisty sci-fi thriller. The film holds a lackluster 56% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. But viewers connected with this flick and that is reflected in the picture’s impressive audience approval score of 73%. Not to mention, Déjà Vu has an above-average IMDb user rating of 7.1/10.

Washington stars in the thriller with Val Kilmer, Paula Patton, Adam Goldberg, Elle Fanning, and Bruce Greenwood.
