Quentin Tarantino is no stranger to controversy. He has likely grown accustomed to pushback from the ratings board and parent groups by now. But the director was shocked when beloved horror filmmaker Wes Craven took issue with one of his films, bolting from the theater during a notoriously gratuitous sequence. And now you can check it out easily on Amazon’s Prime Video platform.

In 2017, Tarantino spoke at a 25th anniversary screening of Reservoir Dogs organized by the Tribeca Film Festival. Naturally, the conversation turned to the picture’s infamous reputation and the torture scene that led to numerous walkouts during the feature’s festival run. EW was on hand at the screening and reported back.

The Brutality of Tarantino on Prime Video

The outlet says Tarantino told the Tribeca audience he had high hopes when he took the film to the genre-focused Sitges Film Festival. He was sure he had found his target audience. “They showed Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, which was just drowned in zombie guts and brains,” Tarantino said. “Finally I’ve got an audience that won’t walk out. I even joked about that in the opening introduction for the movie.”

As it turns out, Tarantino wasn’t so lucky. “Five people walked out of that audience, including Wes Craven,” Tarantino said. “The f—ing guy who did Last House on the Left walked out? The guy who did Last House on the Left, my movie’s too tough for him.”

What makes this particularly interesting is that, as we previously reported, Tarantino walked out of Last House on the Left because it was too intense for him as a young man. Accordingly, Craven walking out of his film must have been a surreal moment for the director. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a peek at Prime Video to witness the brutality for yourself.

In case you’re unfamiliar, the setup for Reservoir Dogs goes like this: Six criminals with pseudonyms are hired for a robbery. The heist is ambushed by police and the gang is forced to shoot their way out. At their warehouse rendezvous, the survivors, realizing they were set up, try to find the traitor in their midst.

That’s all we’ve got, for the time being. Stay tuned to the site for more entertaining anecdotes as we uncover them. Also, be sure to follow us on Twitter so you never miss one of our updates.
