This Bonkers Netflix Sci-Fi Epic Just Premiered Totally Uncut: “F***ing insane cinema”

Rebel Moon Netflix

I’m not a big Zack Snyder fan. That isn’t to say I’m adamantly against him (Sucker Punch is a masterpiece, okay), but I’m regularly neutral, so most news around one of the most divisive filmmakers of our times barely lands on my radar. What did land on my radar—and Netflix made sure of it—were the premieres of both Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.

Despite lackluster critical reviews, both films were huge hits for Snyder and the streamer. Now, Netflix has (in Snyder fashion) released two R-rated director’s cuts of both the first and second film. Expectedly, those Snyder cuts have topped the Netflix charts. Check out previews for them below:

Per Netflix: Zack Snyder’s sci-fi saga expands with Chapter One: Chalice of Blood, his hardcore director’s cut about a search for warriors to defend a peaceful moon.

Director Zack Snyder reportedly pulled inspiration for his mythic duo from the likes of Akira Kurosawa, the Star Wars movies, and heavy metal magazines. The film marked a big shift for Snyder whose previous films had been bonafide theatrical events. While both parts did briefly bow theatrically, they were streaming experiences at their core.

While director’s cuts rarely, if ever, prove to be better than what was released (sorry, but it’s true), fans have been thrilled with Snyder’s restored vision. Check out some choice reactions below:

It’s a Rebel Moon, baby. For better or worse, Snyder demands our attention. Now, despite Snyder’s objections, if we could just get that Sucker Punch director’s cut. I really, really like Sucker Punch.
