The Forgotten ‘Terrifier’ Prequel is Now Free to Stream; Watch the Rise of Art the Clown
Terrifier changed the slasher game. It can be difficult to pinpoint its impact since the series is still ongoing, but the cult legacy of Terrifier—plus Terrifier 2’s unprecedented box office return—renders it a slasher series unlike any other. For a series so brutal and uncompromising to reach those levels of success is cause for celebration for horror fans.
What you might not know, however, is that Terrifier wasn’t Art the Clown’s (presently David Howard Thornton) first feature. Before Terrifier, Art appeared in two short films and the anthology film All Hallow’s Eve. In the latter, he was portrayed by Mike Giannelli. The better news? You can stream All Hallow’s Eve free now on Tubi.
Per Tubi: A babysitter’s Halloween descends into terror when she’s tormented by a creepy clown from a mysterious tape the kids found trick-or-treating.
All Hallow’s Eve was director Damien Leone’s feature debut. The three segments feature Art the Clown in different appearances. While he’d been in short films prior, All Hallows’ Eve was his bonafide arrival. In our own review of the anthology, we wrote, “Through all of its flaws, however, All Hallow’s Eve shows tremendous talent both in front of and behind the camera. Leone is a superb effects artist, and while it’s not a perfect film, it hints at a promising future for Leone and, if we’re lucky, Art the Clown.”
Now is the perfect time to revisit Art’s true origins. With Terrifier 3 set to hit theaters this October, it’s absolutely time for a franchise refresh. Check out a teaser for the third (Christmas-themed) film below:
