Murder and hot people. It’s a cocktail for success, and in the case of Netflix’s long-running Elite, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. I imagine it’s this generation’s Skins or Degrassi (love me some Degrassi). Elite, while occasionally lighthearted, regularly tackles hot-button issues, and features its fair share of violence and murder.

Critically and commercially, the series has been a success. The eighth and final season recently premiered, and for the week of July 29 through August 4, Elite was Netflix’s most-watched television series not in the English language.

Learn about the steamy Netflix series

Per Netflix: Intrigue, sex, and murder take center stage at a private school in this series that launched Ester Expósito, Arón Piper, Omar Ayuoso, Manu Ríos and more.

Elite is bingeworthy television if anything ever was. Students go missing. Some fall ill. There are secrets, confessions, and more twists than you can shake an elite private school stick at. The series has been a remarkable success for Netflix, and the final season endeavors to wrap all the disparate threads introduced since its premiere in 2018.

Fans have been loving the series, of course, even if they’re disappointed to see it end. Good, bad, or indifferent, Netflix’s top-charting Elite is coming to a close. Check out some choice social reactions below:

I don’t know why bisexual orgies, murders, and drugs are being framed as a bad thing, but… does good television need anything else? Maybe it’s just me, but that would be enough to sell me on Elite immediately. It’s exactly what young adults need in a post-Riverdale world.
