‘V/H/S/BEYOND’: Iconic Found Footage Franchise Goes Sci-Fi—Watch The New Trailer
It’s the most wonderful time of the year: new V/H/S/ movie time, which often marks the official start of the spooky season. For the last few years, Shudder has blessed us with new yearly takes on found footage, typically defined by a year or time period. Now, we seem to be entering a new era with this year’s release, V/H/S/Beyond. The seventh entry in the franchise is going full science fiction, no longer defined by one particular aesthetic, but instead by subgenre.
The synopsis we have is simple:
V/H/S/BEYOND, the seventh installment of the V/H/S franchise will feature six new bloodcurdling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.
Now watch the official teaser trailer:
The teaser trailer alone shows the epic scale of this entry in the found footage series, with brief shots of what looks like someone filming from outer space. Extraterrestrials and UFOs have been tackled in the franchise before, yes, but this time we’ll be getting aliens and cosmic horror galore!
Jordan Downey (Thankskilling), Christian Long & Justin Long (Barbarian), Justin Martinez (Southbound), Virat Pal (Recapture), and Kate Siegel (Hush) direct segments in V/H/S/Beyond, with a special presentation by Jay Cheel (How To Build A Time Machine).
V/H/S/BEYOND will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest before coming exclusively to Shudder on October 4, 2024.
