Shocking New Horror Movie is Free to Watch on YouTube and it’s a Found Footage Nightmare

Milk & Serial on YouTube

If you were online last week, you might have heard some people talking about Milk & Serial. The viral found-footage phenomenon, running just over an hour in length, comes from YouTuber Curry Barker. Everyone has been talking about it, and Barker himself even snagged an interview with Variety. In a year abounding with horror headliners, it’s a remarkable accomplishment.

After all, Milk & Serial cost just $800 to make, and was subsequently released for free via the “that’s a bad idea” YouTube channel (run by both Barker and Cooper Tomlinson). Before we get any further, why not check out Milk & Serial for yourself? We’ve linked it below.

Per YouTube: When a surprise birthday prank goes terribly wrong, two social media influencers must face the devastating consequences that come after…

Milk & Serial isn’t the pair’s first horror short. While principally a sketch comedy duo, the pair have worked on other short-form genre projects in the past. The psychological thriller Enigma, in which a “hopeless and lonely man named Adam [struggles] to find purpose in his life before it all ends” is worth checking out. The same could be said of Warnings which follows a man who “finds a mysterious note on his car… questions where it came from, and why strange things are beginning to happen…”

Milk & Serial is their bonafide breakthrough, however. A viral hit that, no doubt, will attract the attention of some industry bigwigs. Curry wrote, directed, scored, and edited the short, while Cooper served as both producer and co-cinematographer. Adlih Torres worked on make-up, and Pablo Mena is credited with sound and boom.

Targeting an era of influencer excess, the short is also just really good. Not only timely, but consistently watchable, regularly belying its humble origins with a visceral, pointed, and regularly unnerving descent into YouTube pranksters run amok. The pair have already announced their next project, Obsession, which they promise is “unlike anything I think anyone’s ever seen.” It’s only a matter of time before they go the Talk to Me route (which, interestingly enough, they’ve parodied on their channel). Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou (RackaRacka online) were YouTubers before their big horror break.
