‘House on Haunted Hill’ Trailer: Indie Reboot of the Horror Classic Gets First Teaser [Exclusive]
We have a special treat in store for you today. We are pleased to share an exclusive first look at the new teaser trailer for Dustin Ferguson’s upcoming remake of the Vincent Price classic House on Haunted Hill. What makes this reimagining stand out to us is that Price’s daughter, Victoria, is closely involved with the production. Victoria features in a primary role and also serves as an executive producer on the project.
Interestingly, Victoria Price isn’t the only legacy connection to the 1959 original. Wyatt Mitchum, great nephew of Julie Mitchum, also stars. Julie Mitchum played Ruth Bridges in the original. Wyatt Mitchum features as Watson Pritchard in this upcoming redux.
The reboot differentiates itself from the previous two incarnations by taking a found footage-style approach, with the proceedings presented as a lost cable broadcast. Both Ghostwatch and WNUF Halloween Special took that approach. They successfully frightened and entertained audiences, so Ferguson and company hope to pull off a similar feat with this upcoming redux.
This reimagining is slated for a proper red-carpet premiere next month. It will be screened at The Frida Cinema in Santa Ana, CA, on Halloween! That’s perfect timing and sounds like fun.
Check out the teaser trailer for House on Haunted Hill:
The reboot features a couple of familiar names in addition to those already mentioned. Character actor Daniel Roebuck (Terrifier 3, The Munsters) will be recognizable to horror fans as Agent Wine from Final Destination. He plays Vinny Price here. Slumber Party Massacre actress Brinke Stevens also features in a lead role. She will appear as Nora Manning. Screenwriter C. Courtney Joyner (Class of 1999) will play William White.
The setup goes like this: On October 31st, 1978, the WXIP-TV Channel 6 Team investigated the infamous “Hill House” on Live Television, with dire results. The broadcast was banned and has never been seen again. Until now.
You may have noticed that some of the names sound familiar. Vinny Price is pretty self-explanatory. But Nora Manning is another example of a nod to the source material. Carolyn Craig plays a character by the same name in the 1959 original!
