One of the highest-grossing Stephen King adaptations is currently dominating the Netflix charts. The film in question is the most-watched horror picture on Netflix today and claims the number #6 slot on the platform overall. But that’s not all that surprising, considering It: Chapter Two is the second-most successful adaptation of the author’s work ever. The film pulled in an impressive $473 million at the global box office, not leaving it too far behind It: Chapter One, which took in more than $700 million!

With box office results like that, it’s clear that the Pennywise character is a fan favorite in the author’s celebrated oeuvre. If I’m being fair, however, Chapter Two doesn’t quite reach the highs of its predecessor. I find some of the casting choices questionable and not all of the sequences from the book translate as well as I had hoped. However, it still has a certain merit. I think the picture takes things out on a high note, squaring matters away with a satisfying conclusion that makes up for some of the film’s shortcomings.

Stephen King also sees the good in Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of the second half of his book. In anticipation of the film’s 2019 theatrical release, the author tweeted his thoughts on the flick:

“Looking forward to It Chapter 2? You should be. I’ve seen it, and it’s terrific. The trailer is coming Thursday, at noon. You’ll float.”

If you’re game to revisit It: Chapter Two, head over to Netflix and give it a spin. But do keep in mind you’ll have to look elsewhere (Max) for the first chapter as it is not currently available on Netflix.

The plot crunch for the second half of this Stephen King adaptation goes like this:

Defeated by members of the Losers’ Club, the evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to terrorize the town of Derry, Maine, once again. Now adults, the childhood friends have long since gone their separate ways. But when people start disappearing, Mike Hanlon calls the others home for one final stand. Damaged by scars from the past, the united Losers must conquer their deepest fears to destroy the shape-shifting Pennywise — now more powerful than ever.
