‘Predator: Badlands’: New ‘Predator’ Film Starring Elle Fanning Gets Theatrical Release Date
Dan Trachtenberg stunned viewers with his 2022 take on the iconic Predator franchise with Prey, a film that centered on a Comanche woman (Amanda Midthunder) in the 1700s who has to fight both colonizers and monsters alike. Now, Trachtenberg is back with a new entry in the franchise, titled Predator: Badlands. And this time, it isn’t just getting released straight to Hulu. It’ll get a proper theatrical release.
According to Deadline, Predator: Badlands is coming to theaters on November 7, 2025, replacing the previously announced Blade, which Disney has now removed from their release schedule.
The reboot of the Wesley Snipes Marvel movie was first announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con. Originally, Mahershala Ali was set to play the human-vampire hybrid but has since exited the project. And that isn’t the only speedbump the production has encountered. It’s also hit numerous delays, including two directors exiting the project. Time will tell if this film will ever see the light of day.
Regarding Predator: Badlands, the synopsis is brief, simply reading, “While traversing a wasteland, two sisters discover their horrifying past.” Elle Fanning has been announced to star in the film directed by Trachtenberg and co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison (who previously collaborated with the director on Prey).
Previously, Prey was released straight to streaming with no theatrical run or physical release. Now, it seems that Disney listened to the fans and will bring the new film to theaters.
