The #1 Movie on Netflix Is a Shocking Thriller “Seriously stressing” Everyone Out
I spend what seems like hours scrolling Netflix (and the countless other streaming platforms to which I currently subscribe) in search of something to watch. It’s a bummer to invest and then regret that decision 90 minutes later. However, when the time investment proves worthwhile, all of the endless scrolling feels justified. On that note, I took in a Netflix original horror thriller over the weekend that really resonated. As it turns out, that very same thriller now sits as the #1 most-watched film on the platform. I’m talking about the Sam Raimi-produced chiller Don’t Move.
Don’t Move is a fast-paced thriller that executes effectively on a familiar template.
Don’t Move unfolds at a breakneck pace, following a young woman whose day takes a sinister turn after she meets a seemingly helpful stranger on a desolate hiking trail. There’s a cat-and-mouse dynamic at play that got my adrenaline pumping. This film absolutely does not reinvent the wheel, and it doesn’t contain many surprises. But the execution of a familiar formula is likely to resonate for anyone who has a soft spot for high-octane thrills.
Brian Netto and Adam Schindler directed Don’t Move from a script penned by T.J. Cimfel and David White.
Kelsey Asbille, who you will likely recognize from her time on Yellowstone, and Finn Wittrock, of the American Horror Story universe, topline the flick. Don’t Move is a tightly contained chiller where the two leads are the primary screen presence, with precious little interference from any other characters.
If you are curious to seek the film out but want to hear a bit more about how viewers are responding, scope the Twitter (don’t you dare say X) reactions below to see a sampling.
Enjoyed DON’T MOVE on Netflix. Finn Wittrock is so so so good at playing these sorts of frighteningly pathetic men, and I was very impressed with Kelsey Asbille’s physically demanding performance. A tight, tense ~90 minutes! pic.twitter.com/NCumjVQ4Vb

#DontMoveNetflix – a decent thriller, nothing groundbreaking. It’s suspenseful enough to keep you entertained/interested but by the end it’s your basic cat and mouse thriller with an empowering ending. pic.twitter.com/BY26FinVYS

❤️ the concept! I’m a sucker for contained movies. It forces creatives (writers, directors, actors) to keep us on the edge of our seats. This does exactly that! Yes, ppl’ll yell at character’s internal choices, but that means we’re hook’d & invested. Thrilling ride! pic.twitter.com/TbdSilSX4k
If the above endorsements have you ready to pull the trigger on Don’t Move, head over to Netflix to draw your own conclusions about the flick.
The setup for this Sam Raimi-produced horror thriller goes like this:
When a killer injects her with a paralytic agent, a woman must run, fight, and hide before her body completely shuts down.
